As an LPC Associate , clients will benefit from my practice being under the supervision of Glenna Massey, MMFT, LPC-S, EMDR-certified.
I have a passion for working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in providing Child-Centered Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy to children and families. I have personally experienced the unconditional love and power of Jesus to save and heal. I have encountered Him as our Healer, our Counselor and Advocate, our Comforter, our wellspring of life, He is God with us, and “the Living One Who Sees Me” (Genesis 16:13 and John 4). I would be honored to get the opportunity to hear your story, to come alongside you and your family on this journey, and add to the tools in your toolbelt for a thriving life and meaningful relationships.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as your Christian counselor is to provide a safe and empathetic counseling relationship where you can feel supported in your journey toward healing and wholeness and experience the empathy and compassion of Jesus. My aim is to create a warm, welcoming space where you can learn and practice tools for life and relationships.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
For children ages 2-12 years old and their parents, I provide Child-Centered Play Therapy and training for parents in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy. During the intake session, I meet with just the parents without the child present so that the parents can speak freely without the child feeling like anything negative is being spoken about them. Then I schedule individual sessions with the child and frequent follow-up parent consultations. I try to schedule monthly parent consultations as a minimum, but parents are welcome to schedule as frequently as they would like.
I take a person-centered approach to counseling. For adults and couples, I will spend our first session listening to your story with empathy and compassion as we begin exploring the different themes in your story. In subsequent sessions we will develop a treatment plan together and identify and pursue your goals for counseling.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
I often think of moments in Scripture when Jesus asks people looking for help and healing, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6) I have found that answering that question requires us to admit we have a need that we cannot address or change alone, and it requires a commitment to enter a new way of life. It takes courage, humility, and vulnerability. I recognize that each person coming to counseling is giving the courageous answer of “Yes.” What’s unique about Christian counseling is that we get to go to the source of our healing, we get to do this journey together with Jesus. And when we say “yes” to Him, we are not left wanting (Psalm 23:1; John 4:14).
Qualifications & Experience
I have a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The King’s University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Sociology from Abilene Christian University. I completed the trainings from the Center for Play Therapy at the University of North Texas, and I am experienced in providing Child-Centered Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CCPT & CPRT). I graduated from The Village Training Institute (TVCI) from The Village Church in 2020-2021 and I have also completed seminary courses from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
My Call to Christian Counseling
Jesus met me in my despair, taught me my true identity, and invited me into a greater story, and I want to spend my life extending that invitation to others. I spent several years working for the local church and that is where I thought I would stay, but the Lord moved in my heart to pursue counseling work as a bridge for the practical application of Christian theology.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
My schedule is packed full of counseling, church activities, and the constant smell and making of coffee, as my husband is both a Pastor and entrepreneur who owns a coffee company. Together, we love to host our family, friends, and church community in our home.
With our busy schedules, I enjoy the practice of Sabbath and feel refreshed when I can sit in my little green chair by my fireplace, sipping coffee or tea, reading C.S. Lewis, and diving into the themes of Scripture. I also enjoy exploring different walking trails with my husband on our day off together.

Counseling for Children
Have you ever asked your young child, “What’s wrong?” or “Why did you do that?” and they just can’t give you an answer? It would be so nice if they could explain, “Well, Suzie pulled my hair and called me ‘dumb’ today, and my brother is really getting on my nerves and sometimes I feel like you and Dad love him more than me, so I yelled at Dilan because I have so much anger and jealousy built up inside.” But we know kids don’t process or communicate that way. Children process and communicate through play. I’m here to give your child a safe place to experience empathy, to process and share their inner world through their play, and to provide them with the opportunity to develop skills of self-confidence, self-regulation, and self-control.
Family Counseling
Are you feeling more exhausted and disconnected from your children or family members than connected with them? Family is essential, parenting is a privilege, and becoming a grandparent is a gift, but family comes with special challenges, struggles, and problems. Many times the problems in our family experiences become our focus and the only thing we can see. It’s been my honor and privilege to come alongside families and add to their toolbelts so that they begin to focus on and draw from their strengths, improve their communication, and increase connection. It would be my delight to partner with you in your unique family situation to identify and achieve your goals in your family.
Premarital Counseling
Did you know that when you come together with your spouse in marriage you form a complete, new family? This decision to make the promise of marriage is so exciting, and it can also bring up many questions, concerns, challenges, and even fear and pain for couples. This is the beauty and challenge of relationship. It would be my honor and joy to hear your story and come alongside you as you face the many aspects of joining your lives together.
Group Counseling
The group setting can provide such a powerful space to experience that you are not alone, to realize you have a story to share with others, and to learn from other people in both similar and different situations from your own. I have enjoyed the opportunity to lead Child-Parent Relationship Therapy training groups and empower parents, grandparents, and babysitters with skills to identify and meet your child(ren)’s emotional needs, set limits and consequences, help your child develop self-control and confidence, and increase connection. If navigating family and child interactions is difficult and you feel like you are at the end of your rope, you are not alone, and there is hope!
Anxiety
Jesus promises us peace, yet many people are living under the tyranny of anxiety. Our society places many demands on us, our schedules can be overwhelming to say the least, living in this world involves challenges and trouble, and many of us live under the task master of perfectionism. If you find yourself living with feelings of worry, anxiety, or panic, I would be honored to walk with you in identifying the underlying causes and developing coping skills to overcome the debilitating symptoms of anxiety. I often turn to the truths in Philippians 4 that remind me that I don’t have to be anxious because “the Lord is at hand,” we can take everything to Him, and His peace will guard our hearts and minds. I am hopeful to partner with you in experiencing this peace.
